MORE than 100 head of cattle were shown at the Mount Pleasant Show at the weekend, with 25 exhibitors from across SA showing 12 breeds of cattle at the event.
With a mix of veteran and first-time entrants heading into the ring, the event was hotly contested, according to Mount Pleasant Show beef cattle convenor Kevin Lintern, who said he was pleased with the state-wide support.
"There were entrants from all over who came along," he said.
"We get around 100 cattle entered every year, so we were really pleased to have the same support coming out of restrictions.
"We're the biggest cattle show outside of Adelaide in the state and it's exciting to keep that strong competition going."

The supreme exhibit Nangaringa Naomi S306, came from the Fogden Family, Nangaringa Santa Gertrudis, Loxton, and was entered in the female nine to 12 months section.
The heifer was out of Nangaringa Naomi N659, a previous prize-winning heifer from the Fogden family, which was crowned best exhibit for Santa Gertrudis at the Sydney Royal cattle show in 2019.
The 2022 heifer was raised as a poddy calf after losing its mother early on but will continue in its mother's footsteps, also heading to Sydney to compete in a few weeks time.
"We're looking forward to not only seeing our entrants again next year, but following them along as they head to Sydney soon and the Royal Adelaide later in the year," Mr Lintern said.
