THE Mount Pleasant Show Society has official unveiled its new $220,000 facility at Talunga Park this week, ahead of show day this weekend.
The project, which saw the society's old transportable building replaced with a new administration building in addition to other upgrades, was funded through grants from the federal government, Barossa Council and community donations, in addition to money allocated by the society.
A total of $124,000 was awarded through the federal government's Regional Agricultural Show Development grant program, with $88,606 from the Barossa Council, $8000 from the society and a further $5000 donated through different community groups.
Mount Pleasant Show Society secretary Vicki Fawcett said with the support the Mount Pleasant show had been able to build a new facility on Talunga Park to house a community meeting room with office space for the show secretary and Farmers Market and storage rooms for the pony club and Show Society.
"We have included a much-needed toilet facility upgrade with a disabled toilet and five new cubicle toilets, two of which are also ambulatory," she said.
"This is something that we would never have been able to achieve without the federal grant."
Member for Barker Tony Pasin said he was pleased the Mount Pleasant Show Society had a facility that was fit for purpose for the busy show and for the community groups that use the facility.
"In many regional areas agricultural shows are the heart and soul of our regional communities," he said.
"They help bring communities together, bridge the divide between country and city and provide a key injection into the local economy.
"These events showcase the hard work and innovation that goes into producing Australia's food and fibre.
"In Barker we have some of the best in the nation and that's why I'm so pleased to be delivering infrastructure upgrades, like the new facility at Talunga Park."
