MOUNT PLEASANT
Yarding: 64 cattle, 938 sheep and lambs
Steers to $2500
Heifers to $2200
Lambs to $244
A GALLERY of familiar faces were ready to bid at the Mount Pleasant market last week, with prices hitting a top of $2500 in the steers and $244 for lambs.
Nutrien Mount Pleasant livestock agent David Schultz said regular buyers were competitive during the sale, with lamb prices almost on par with the market's previous sale day.
"Quality is still up there and buyers are seeing that," he said.
"Lambs probably weren't as heavy as what we saw last fortnight, but there was still strong demand and only a small dip in prices."
Although the cattle yarding was on the small side, Mr Schultz said he expected numbers to rise at coming sales.
"We had our special cattle sale only a few weeks ago - numbers have been down slightly because of that," he said.
"But there won't be another, so we expect things will start to pick up again.
"Prices at Mount Pleasant in the cattle and the sheep are pretty bang on what everyone's getting across the board, so we're happy with that."
