NARACOORTE market's yarding swelled to just shy of 5000 head on Thursday last week, with large runs of steers and heifers offered.
While the cattle job showed no signs of slowing, an increased yarding at this time of the year was not expected by stock agents but in the producers favour, prices did not suffer.
Steers reached $2960 or $5.30 a kilogram in PPH&S' run of cattle, with steers weighing 380-600 kilograms making between $2260-$2960/head or $4.80-$5.90/kg across their offering.
Those weighing between 260-360kg made between $1730-$2210/h or $6-$6.61/kg.
GM&WR Green, Beachport, made $2960 or $5.35/kg for 16, Angus cross December 2020-drop steers weighing 553kg, while the same vendor made $2600/hd or $5.04/kg for 10, Poll Hereford cross September/October 2020-drops and a further 13, December 2020-drop Angus crosses weighing 436kg made $2470/h or $5.65/kg.
PW&LE Vile, Bordertown, made $2930/hd or $5.71/kg for 24, October/November 2020-drop Angus steers weighing 512kg.
Blue Fire Nominees, Robe, made $2900 or $4.80/hd for 25 Pathfinder-blood February/March 2020-drops weighing 603kg that sold to Teys Australia.
Kay Gard Family Trust, Fernur, made $2840/hd or $5.27/kg for eight February/March 2020-drop Angus steers that weighed 538kg.
Thomas De Garis & Clarkson's offered reached a top of $2801/hd or $5.58/kg for 10, July2020-drop Angus steers weighing 502kg from vendor AJ&MS Reichelt, Ob Flat.
JR Drabsch & Co, Kingston, made $2725/hd or $5.90/kg for 24, February/March 2021-drop Angus steers averaging 461kg.
KW&BF Badenoch, Mount Gambier, offered 26, April-May 2021-drop Kanangra/Banquet-blds weighing 405kg and made $2478/hd or $6.12/kg to Wagga commission buyer Andrew Lowe.
Another pen of 26 steers weighing 411kg from the same vendor made $2515/hd or $6.12/kg, also selling to Mr Lowe.
Market regular, Mr Lowe, was again active across multiple weight ranges, sourcing the remaining stock from Badenochs ranging from $2223-$2289.
Nutrien Ag Solutions run reached a top of $2556/hd or $6.13/kg for a large offering of 66 Sterita Park/Pathfinder-bld steers from RJ&CM Savage, Avenue Range.
The EU-accredited September 2021-drops averaged 417kg and sold to Thomas Foods International.
The same vendor offered 2020-drops averaging 392kg and made $2411 or $6.15/kg to TFI.
AJ&MF Whitehead, Millicent, offered 25, Woonalee-bld February/March Angus 2021-drops averaging 431kg and made $2524/hd or $5.85/kg.
Meadowside, Naracoorte, made $2468/hd or $5.85/kg for 15, March/April 2021-drop Angus cross steers averaging 422kg to Teys.
Lighterweight steers from 250kg to 300kg across Nutrien Ag pens made between $1769-$1885/hd.
LG&EM Melville, Naracoorte, made $2500/hd or $5.76/kg for four Nampara-bld Angus steers in the Elders run. The 15-18-month olds sold to TFI.
DJ Cox, Lucindale, made $2460/hd or $5.95/kg for three, Angus March/April 2021-drop Shady Grove-blds averaging 413kg to TDC.
Southern Australian Livestock's run had a top of $2359/hd or $5.70/kg for 11, Jillangold-bld Red Angus steers from Yackandandah Family Trust, Clare, the March 2021-drops averaged 414kg.
Vendor WL&LD Wenske, Flaxley, made $2355/hd or $6/kg for four Murray Greys averaging $392kg.
It was the Elders run that found the heifer $2400/hd or $5.20/kg top price with 41 Stratlands Pty Ltd, Meningie, July/August 2020-drop Stony Point-bld Angus heifers that sold to Andrew Lowe.
AR&KL Boddington, Binnum, made $2190/hd or $5.74/kg for four, February/March 2021-drop Angus Nampara-blds averaging $381kg.
S&K Fitzgerald, Hatherleigh, offered a smaller run of 12 Mandayen-bld November-December 2020-drop Angus heifers weighing 486kg and made $2380/hd or $4.89/kg to JBS Foods Australia.
Ingham Contracting, Avenue Range, made $2260 for 14 Angus August/September 2020-drop pregnancy-tested and in-calf heifers weighing 388kg.
TDC's heifer run reached a top of $2157/hd or $5/kg for 26 March/April 2021-drop, European Union accredited Angus heifers. Weighing 431kg, those were offered by Krongart Pastoral Co, Penola, and bought by Andrew Lowe.
Those weighing 300kg to 400kg primarily made from $1994-$2138/hd.
Nutrien Ag sold Meadowside's heifers that made $2285/hd or $5.82/kg. The pen of 15 yard-weaned March/April 2021-drops averaged 392kg.
