RETURNS at the Ouyen sheep market in Vic on Thursday last week were slightly back on all grades of lambs - about $5 to 25 cheaper a head, while mutton was $10-$30 cheaper.
Overall, 4483 lambs and 1278 mutton were yarded at the Ouyen Livestock Exchange.
Crossbred lambs sold suitable for export sold from $227-$254 or $7.00 a kilogram to $8/kg; trade lambs were $186-$216 or $7.40-$7.80/kg, while lighter lambs also made $7.40-$8/kg.
In the Merino yarding, heavier lambs made $214-$240 or $7.20-$7.60/kg, while lighter Merinos made $153-$175 or $7.40-$7.80/kg.
Lighter mutton was significantly back in price at $96-$140 or $5-$5.50/kg, while the heavier lots made $130-$178 of $4.50-$5/kg.
Andersons of Bronzewing, Bronzewing, Vic, sold the $254 crossbred sale-toppers with 96 head, while L&R Stone, Torrita, Vic, sold 46 at $240.
Parrakie producers A Beelitz Family Trust sold 89 crossbred lambs at $239, plus 27 Merino lambs at $224, while GM&MA Nicholl, Linga, Vic, sold 55 at $236.
D&J Dutschke, Karoonda, sold the 128 top-price Merino lambs at $240, plus 37 at $228, while Tamaleuca, Kulwin, Vic, sold 25 at $214.
Fitzpatrick Partners, Walpeup, Vic, sold 26 Merino ewes at $178, while K&B Menzel, Murrayville, Vic, sold 65 mutton at $175, and A&J Stone, Underbool, Vic, sold 49 mutton at $170.
Dorper lambs were also offered with G&J Trower, Lameroo, selling 84 at $178 and Serenity Holdings, Meringur, Vic, selling 53 at $177.
The next Ouyen sale will be held on Thursday, March 3.
