PIRSA has confirmed a new detection of Queensland fruit fly (Qfly) within the existing Ridleyton suspension area located in metropolitan Adelaide.
This detection has extended the date for lifting of movement restrictions and reinstatement of fruit fly freedom for this area to the February 22 next year.

The red lines on the map refer to the Qfly boundaries (which have not changed despite this new detection), and the blue lines refer to the Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly) boundaries.
Note that the date for lifting of movement restrictions for the Medfly outbreaks in metropolitan Adelaide remains at December 22, 2021.
It is critical you maintain awareness of Qfly and Medfly boundaries in metropolitan Adelaide, and the dates for lifting of movement restrictions so that you can comply with all requirements for the movement of winegrapes between vineyards and wineries or processing facilities.

Importantly, this Biosecurity Bulletin also outlines options for wineries and growers to prepare their businesses should they be caught up in a FFAA due to, an extension of existing boundaries, extension to dates for the lifting of movement restrictions for existing outbreaks, or a new fruit fly outbreak.
These options can assist in minimising disruption to vintage logistics.
In light of the extension to the date for lifting of movement restrictions for the Qfly outbreak in metropolitan Adelaide, Vinehealth encourages growers and wineries to review this Biosecurity Bulletin now and decide what actions to take as a business in preparation for the upcoming vintage.
Vinehealth will be directly contacting all vineyard owners on their register inside the current metropolitan Adelaide FFAA prior to Christmas to discuss implications for vintage 2022.
