Heifers to $2376
FEMALES are in scarce volumes and the Naracoorte Christmas calf sale was no exception to the trend with numbers dipping lower than previously recorded but returns showed continued market buoyancy.
Heifers made to $2376, $6.22 a kilogram, for 29 Angus/Simmental cross Sterita Park-bloods from Wooding & Co, Maaoupe, in the Thomas De Garis & Clarkson run. The European Union accredited heifers averaged 382 kilograms.
The same vendor's next run of 27 heifers av 340kg made $2101 and a further 13 made $2111, $6.18/kg.
MB&TJ Parker, Langkoop, made the market's second-highest price at $2232, $6.20/kg, for 22 Angus Banquet/Nampara-blds av 360kg.
Magpie Family Trust, offered 11 Sterita Park-bld Angus/Simmental heifers av 347kg and made $2144, av 6.18/kg.
Elders run topped at $2250, $6.54/kg, for 23 European Union accredited Mandayen/Pathfinder/DiGiorgio-blds av 344kg from WV James & Son, Lucindale.
RM&GM Walter, Bordertown, made $2180, $6.17/kg for nine Keringa/Bull Oak Well-blds av 353kg and the James family made a further $2140, av $6.13/kg, for Angus/Poll Herefords av 338kg.
The James' also made $2210, $6.53/kg, for 28 EU heifers av 338kg.
Nutrien Ag Solution's run reached a top of $2136, $6.72/kg, for 18 Pathfinder-blds av 318kg, from Biggin Hill Trust, Lochaber.
Oakview Farm Trust, Dardanup, made $2078, $6.64/kg, for 17 Angus heifers av 313kg.
KW&ME Frost made $2049, $6.72/kg, for 20 Banquet/Mandayen-bld heifers av 305kg.
MG&SJ Zacher made $2073, $6.40/kg, for 22 Murray Greys av 324kg.
Southern Australian Livestock's offering made to $2082, $5.30/kg, for three Angus heifers av 393kg from LD&A Zanker, Coonalpyn, while ES Hannemann & Sons, Keith, made $2058, $5.95/kg, for 10 Hazeldean-blds av 346kg.
The Zankers offered a further six heifers av 311kg that made $1710, $5.50/kg.
