PRICES reached $316 for Cooranga's first-cross ewe lambs at their on-property sale at Luncindale on Friday, with wether lambs also making a solid price and reaching a top of $220.

In the sale breakdown, the 7318 June/July-drop ewe lambs offered averaged $270 and the 7220 wethers averaged $181.

The top price was achieved for 330 ewe lambs that sold to JM Ellis and Co Livestock, Hamilton, for 'Greenbank', Hamilton.

The $306 second-highest price was made for 400 ewe lambs to Scullion Farming, Naracoorte, while 850 made $296 and sold to Elders Naracoorte for Langkyne, Naracoorte, and a further 147 made the same price and sold to Nutrien Ag Solutions Mount Gambier for Teagle Nominees, Millicent.

A large run of 1353 ewe lambs were sold in smaller lots, with 300 making $294 to Elders Millicent on account J B Gilbertson, Millicent, and Merrett Livestock snapping up 453 for the same amount.

PPH&S agent Scott Bittner, account Corbin, Lucindale, secured 100 out of the run for $296 and Elders Lucindale for McCarthy Livestock paid $294 for 400.

Nutrien Ag Mount Gambier on account Teagle Nominees bought 100 for $292.

In the wether section, weights ranged from 42.5kg- 61.5kg at the top end and Thomas Foods International secured the 424 top end lot for $220.

A large run 1502 slightly lighter lambs av 56kg made $202 and sold to JBS Australia, Bordertown, and PPH&S secured the remaining 5302 wethers av 42kg-52kg for $144-$183.

Elders Lucindale's Ronnie Dix said lambs showed good growth for age and buyers knew the Cooranga style.

The sale was conducted by PPHS and Elders Lucindale.
