HIGH prices for ewe lambs at Naracoorte this week came as no surprise, with a pen presented by the McMahon family making $390.
McPiggery, Lameroo, which topped the 2019 sale at $360, also achieved last year's second highest price at $424, so despite the sheep industry continuing on an upward trajectory in past two years, prices slightly slipped back for the 2021 sale.
The pen of 180 March/April 2021-drops sold to Southern Australian Livestock. The ewe lambs were Taranga Park and Glenlea Park-blood.
The $380 second-highest price was also achieved by McPiggery for a further 180 lambs and Altus Pastoral, Lameroo, made the same return for the tops of their run, 120 Taronga Park and Belmont, Ridgway and Gunallo-blds.
The best presented pen was awarded to Clover Ridges Greg Fisher, Woolumbool, and Thomas Foods International's Darren Thomas commended the vendor for its lineup.
"It ticked all of the boxes. Its been a tough season and its an absolute credit to the vendor," Mr Thomas said.
Full report to come.
