NORTHERN and southern areas in the state are experiencing some wild weather, resulting from low pressure troughs moving across the state.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Jenny Horvat said a low pressure trough was creating "gusty thunderstorms" in the North East Pastoral districts, as well as from the Eyre Peninsula, moving across to the Murraylands.
There have been reports of hail on EP, Yorke Peninsula and north of Adelaide.
The State Emergency Service has issued a severe weather community alert for the Barossa, upper Murraylands and northern Adelaide suburbs with the expectation of more large hail events to come.
Ms Horvat said the "waves of storms" would be continuing throughout the day, alongside heavy winds, with a damaging winds warning in place.
Conditions in the South East also expected to "deteriorate" in the next few hours.
While there has been some rain, she said it was "hit and miss", with falls of up to 22 millimetres at Mount Hope, and 20mm at Cummins and Tumby Bay, while the NE Pastoral areas had up to 17mm.
"But elsewhere, it's generally less than 5mm," she said.
Ms Horvat said conditions were expected to ease into Friday - albeit with some scattered showers remaining on EP - while the wind speeds would ease "quite quickly" early tomorrow.
