GAINS for young ewes have continued on an upward trajectory at Kapunda offshears sale on Monday this week, after a run of Gum Hill-bloods made $314.
Competitive bidding on well-known bloodlines set the scene early for the annual sale and Nutrien Beaton Agencies principal Greg Beaton said prices for young ewes were equivalent to recent northern feature ewe sales.
"The second run of young ewes were only just a shade cheaper.
"Lambs dropped onto dry paddocks instead of grass and that means the area is about six weeks behind compared to last year."
Mr Beaton said breeding ewes showed reasonable growth for age.
