About 25 members of SA's agricultural industry met in Adelaide on Wednesday for the the announcement of the national winner of the 2020 AgriFutures Rural Women's Award.
Seven finalists - one from each state and territory across the country - were in the running for the national title, having been announced as winners for their respective states in 2020.
The national award is usually presented at a gala event in Canberra, which was postponed from last year to this year, then re-organised into individual events in each state, and run together as a livestream.
WA state winner Cara Peek, Broome, was named the national winner, for her work as founder of Saltwater Country, an organisation which offers services to at-risk Indigenous youth across the Kimberley.
NSW/ACT state winner Cressida Cains, Robertson, NSW, was runner-up, and was recognised for her work setting up Dairy Cocoon, a digital platform and support hub helping dairy farmers move up the value chain.
SA's state finalist, Steph Schmidt, Worlds End, topped the SA finalists for her project ACT for Ag, a program helping to build capacity and resilience for farmers and those living in rural areas.
