Monday was a tough end to this season's Murray Bridge spring sales, with sheep on offer at the ewe and lamb market showing signs of a dry end to the season while some lines of older ewes still attracted good interest.
Elders Murray Bridge livestock agent Scott Eichler said quality was down on previous sales, particularly on the younger ewes.
"Quite a few of the younger ewes were showing the signs of dry times, the older ewes sold well though, and some of the wether lambs sold well too," he said.
Nutrien Murray Bridge livestock agent Kevin Keller said with many farmers putting rams out in the coming weeks, older ewes were sought after.
"The older ewes were in demand a bit more, they are more ready to go for breeding rather than the younger ones," he said.
H&A Graetz, Sedan, topped the sale, with 178 April/May 2020-drop ewes with Moorundie Park-blood being knocked down at $252, while BL&CL Burbidge, Ettrick, weren't far behind, selling 200 June/July- 2020drop Benefield-blds at $250.
GA&JK Wagenknecht, Murray Bridge, sold 77, 1.5-year-old- Ridgway-blds at $236, with the vendor also making $178 for a pen of 80, 2017-drop ewes of the same bloodline, and $150 for 34, 5.5yo ewes.
A line of 178, 1.5yo Pindari-blds by Rocky Downs, Murray Bridge, was knocked down at $248, while another 18 from the same drop were sold at $160.
Narilla Pty Ltd, Milang, offered 155 June/July 2020-drop SWM-blds at $230, and had another 30 make $180, while JG Richards &Son, Brinkley, sold 51 April/May-drop Gunallo-blds at $234.
Regular vendors KA&DB Frahn, Manuum, sold 210 June/July-drop Lucernbrae-blds at $226.
Milang's Amerylla Props sold 50 June/July 2020-drop Gunallo-blds at $216, and B&U Watts, Milang, sold 71 April/March 2020-drop Lines Gumhill-blds at $212, and also had 54, 4.5yo ewes knocked down at $176.

Menteng Proprietary Limited, Cambrai, sold 55, 1.5yo Bunyara-blds at $210.
Making $200 were AK Schulz, Karoonda, for a pen of April/May 2020-drop Sandalwood Poll Merino-blds, as well as IT&MJ Eckermann, Sandalwood, for 41, 1.5yo Kamora Park-blds.
JM&SI Watts, Copeville, sold 64, 2018/19-drop Glen Holme-blds at $194, while SN&CA Paech, Tepko, sold 146, 4.5yo Ridgway-blds at $192 and 149, 5.5yo ewes at $182.
DL&LK Pearson, Brinkley, had 65, 4.5yo Gunallo-Ridgway-blds knocked down at $182.
Burdett's RM&TE Hein sold 16, 3.5yo Kamora-Park-blds at $145, as well as 37, 4.5yo Kamora Park-blds at $176, and 56, 5.5yo ewes fetching $142.
In the lamb offering, White Rock Foods, Strathalbyn, made $168 for 35 Illoura-bld June/July-drop crossbred lambs, and $146 for another 96 of the same drop, while I Loechel, Karoonda, sold 87 Sherlock-bld wether lambs at $162.
BE Launer, Etttrick, offered a large run of Sherlock/Benefield-bld April/May-drop wether lambs, making $160 for 126, $153 for a line of 263, and $122 for 95 of the same drop.
MJ Dunn, Brinkley, sold 57 Lampata-bld May/June-drop wether lambs at $154.
