IN THIS massive jump back to August 1958, hogget comps were under way across the state, as were a number of sheep field days.
Several new rural services branches were celebrating their official openings. Exhibitors and judges were gearing up for the Royal Adelaide Show - including the first female judge for the beef section in the show's history.
It was not the only step forward for women this month, with special schools aimed at educating women on the land.
