AFTER a virtual hiatus in 2020, the Hart Field Day bounced back this week, with the gates thrown open on the trial site, and farmers and industry flocking back to the state's premier cropping event.
About 500 attendees listened in on 19 rolling sessions throughout the day, spread across the 40-hectare trial site.
Hart chairman Ryan Wood said it was pleasing to see visitors back on the site, and the return of the event to almost-pre-COVID format, had been well-received by attendees.
"It was very rewarding to see people back at the field-site, eager to see how the trials are progressing and equally keen to hear from the experts in the field across a range on agronomy areas," he said.
"After last year having to scale back the event to only a minimal crowd on-site and offer the presentations online, it was very pleasing to see the support return to our annual field day.

"Our committee had numerous comments from participants who returned to the event this year, all complimentary of the return of our 'normal' field day format and I think it really drove home for us that we remain one of the country's leading agronomy events, providing topical and relevant information for our growers."
Some of the program highlights included 'wheat head emergence and flowering controls - reality vs risk'- selecting wheat varieties for sowing time and environment; canola technologies and resistance management, including glyphosate considerations and best control of ryegrass.
Pre-emergent herbicides, canola varieties, cereal disease and fungicide resistance, and hay agronomy with market updates also featured, along with pastures and livestock, legume and oilseed herbicide tolerance, variety updates, agronomy and more.
The next event on the Hart calendar is the Spring Twilight Walk on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 5pm at the field site.
