A new state record for crossbred lambs was made at the South Australian Livestock Exchange at Dublin on Tuesday, cementing the livestock sector's high lamb price forecasts.
The previous $348 state record at Dublin was made 18 months ago but it was surpassed by 240 Merino/Suffolk crossbred lambs from RI&S Hill, Mount Drummond, near Cummins, that made $350 a head.
The Nantoura and She Oak Lodge Suffolk bloods lambs were sold through EP Livestock and Real Estate and Combined Independent Agents Association.
The October 2020-drops were February shorn and averaged 35 kilograms dressedweight.
Mount Drummond producer Richard Hill said the possibility of a state record had not entered his mind on market day.
"The quality of the lambs was there and combined with the strength of the market, it was an outstanding combination."
