Earlier this week, SA police confirmed a "large number" of truck drivers had been turned back at the SA-Vic border, following changes to COVID-19 restrictions.
The change meant truck drivers seeking to enter SA had to provide a negative COVID-19 test result obtained in the past 72 hours, but transport operators including WM Beer owner Wayne Beer say truckies were not informed of the new requirement.
Meanwhile, cross-border community members were relieved to learn they would not be required to have had at least one dose of an approved vaccine by September 24 in order to gain entry to SA.
Cross Border Call Out advocate Paula Gust says she spent much of her weekend trying to get answers and was relieved to see the next SAPOL directive released on Monday clarify that the September deadline would only apply to essential workers.
