GOOD value for money appealed to buyers at Jaburee Poll Merino and Merino stud's fifth annual ram sale at Wilmington on Friday.
Greenfields and Glenlea Park bloodlines were highly sought-after by bidders in the Merino and Poll Merino sections, respectively.
Of 60 rams offered, 57 sold to $3200, averaging $1387.
The May 2020-drop Poll Merinos averaged 106.4 kilograms and horned rams averaged 110kg, with an average of 19.4-micron wool across the line-up.
This year's sale had a $167 increase on 2020's average, when 52 of 60 rams sold to $2600, averaging $1220.
The top price was made by lot 3, a ram with Glenlea Park genetics, with a bodyweight of 110kg.
MA Modystach & LR Hitch, Wilmington, secured the impressive Poll Merino for $3200.
The top price ram had wool measurements of 18.6M, 2.9 standard deviation, 15.5 coefficient of variation, 99.5 per cent comfort factor and cut 6kg of wool when shorn on March 15.
Jaburee stud principal Benjamin Bury said the auction was in its fifth year and the results were better than expected.
"The price really reflects the year we are having," he said.

"This was (Mr Modystach's) third year of buying with us and he's been really happy with the results he's been getting."
The sale's volume buyer was Corunna Pastoral, Iron Knob, which bought 14 rams averaging $1171.
Hoare Maintenance, Carrieton, took home seven rams averaging $1657.
Springfield Props, Cradock, bought seven rams averaging $1085.
Local buyer CN&KJ Johns, Wilmington, took home five rams averaging $1360.
Vale Springs, Orroroo, bought six rams averaging $1266, while PJ Reid, Carrieton, bought the same number, averaging $900.
Nine rams were sold in a mini auction, averaging $1111.
Elders stud stock auctioneer Jack Coleman said the top rams were fantastic quality and said Jaburee was a stud heading in the right direction.
"(They were) good, deep-bodied rams that cut plenty of wool," he said.
The sale was conducted by Elders Port Augusta with Mr Coleman taking bids.
