LUCERNBRAE stud principals Keith and Judy Paech held their annual on-property ram sale at Callington on Thursday last week, with 46 of the 60 rams offered selling to $3800, averaging $1452.
Opening the sale, Nutrien auctioneer Leo Redden commended the Paechs for the years of work put into their sheep, with a strong push into sheep genetics in recent years.
He described the offering as productive, fast growth genetics that address the mulesing issue. The Paechs haven't mulesed since 2007.
The top price ram at lot 11 - an AI son of Gunallo 170295 weighing 111 kiliograms with 18.5-micron wool - sold to Kym and Michelle Thiele, Pompoota.
Mrs Thiele said the ram stood out for total volume, had the longest wool, with good figures for growth and fleece.
Merino Select figures included DP+ 76, MP+ 182 YCFW 35.32 and YWT 9.77.
The Thieles bought five rams at the top end averaging $2120. Three were sons of 170295.

Repeat buyer Kym Frahn, Mannum, bought six rams, including the sale's second-highest price of $3200, averaging $1867.
The top Frahn ram was at lot 14 - also a Gunallo 170295 son - which weighed 111kg with a 19.5M wool.
Mr Frahn said they have been buying Lucernbrae for over 10 years, selecting for plain bodies in an attempt to cease mulesing.
Bill Walker, Classings, bought 20 rams for clients, selecting plain body, easy care sheep, with good index figures.
The sale was conducted by Keller Livestock, Murray Bridge.
Kev Keller said "it was a good quality line-up of modern-style rams, with repeat buyers continuing to support Lucernbrae".
