Stan Gorton and Sabrina Davis are taking part in a panel event at the Adelaide Festival of Ideas today.
The festival, which was established in 1999, celebrates the value of ideas, innovations and an informed society in various ways such as lectures, performances, panels and special events.
The Kangaroo Island pair was selected to be panellists on a session entitled Fighting Fires: Public Safety and Public Interest, on today at Elder Hall, North Terrace, at the University of Adelaide.
The theme of the discussion is "bushfires, the human impact, and the role of the media" with attendees hearing from the panellists before a question and answer session.
Stan, who is the driving force behind Australian Community Media publication The Islander, spent weeks covering the 2019-20 bushfires and the devastation that was caused as well as the ongoing recovery process.
Sabrina lost everything in the bushfire and went on to create Humans of Kangaroo Island, a project designed to inspire and reconnect the community as well as raising funds to help with farm firefighting equipment.
