A "dynamic" low pressure front moved across large areas of the state this week, bringing rain to a lot of areas, but it was somewhat "hit and miss", according to Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Jenny Horvat.
She said the rain band was followed by some scattered showers, with areas in the west of the state receiving more rain than forecasted, while some other regions had lower totals than expected.
Some stand out totals on Eyre Peninsula were 36.6 millimetres for Streaky Bay, while Elliston had 26mm and Kimba had 16mm. But Whyalla and Cowell only recorded 5mm.
Ms Horvat said it was in the Mid North that the patchy nature of the rainfall was most evident with Snowtown recording just 3mm while Mintaro and Sevenhill had closer to 20mm of rain.
Kingston SE recorded 5mm, but Nangwarry and Bordertown each received 15mm.
Ms Horvat said this was the first rain since March in the Riverland, with receival totals of 1mm for Berri and 6.6mm for Loxton. Some pastoral areas had falls of up to 5mm.
She said there were still some scattered showers about but these were easing before a dry weekend, while another, albeit weaker, rain system was forecast to form early next week.
It was expected to hit the West Coast on Monday then move east, but "probably not to the same extent".
