MOUNT PLEASANT
Yarding: 1008 sheep and lambs, 145 cattle
Lambs to $225
Steers to $2400
Heifers to $2120
BUYERS at Mount Pleasant market were met with a gallery of competitive bidders on Thursday last week, helping to keep returns for "quality" stock high.
Nutrien Fawcett Livestock's Colin Fawcett said prices and demand for quality lambs and cattle had continued on an upward trajectory in the past few months, as supply tightens and some areas increase feed availability.
BW&KJ Reschke, Mannum, made the $225 top price for 11 lambs and RJ&RJ Wooley, Harrogate, offered four and made $216. T&N Kennett, Brinkley, sold nine lambs that made $206.
Prices for larger runs of lambs remained steady throughout the market and LJ&LJ Rowley, Myponga, made $188 for 12 and PW&RJ Lush, Mannum, made $184 for 24.
Ewe prices were also strong, with RD&CJ Lindner, Mannum, making $210 for two and Scotch College, Adelaide, $185 for seven.
Neina Hill, Murray Bridge, offered a larger run of 19 ewes for $175.
Travis J White, Flaxley, offered 20 ewes that made between $158 and $165.
The cattle section continued to reap its rewards and Mr Fawcett said it was a sign of the cattle market's strength continuing.
AW Kilgour, Birdwood, made $2400 for a Murray Grey steer and another three from the same vendor made $2100.
CM Bond & LA Riemelmoser, Walker Flat, made $2120 for three Poll Hereford/Red Poll crossbred steers.
Heifers made to $2120 for a Murray Grey from GD Wicks & Son, Kenton Valley, and G&A Gum, Springton, made $2580 for a Murray Grey crossbred cow with a calf at foot.
