A POLICY that was quickly instigated by the federal government last year - in the early days of the pandemic - was increased funding towards telehealth.
This was warmly welcomed by regional GPs, who had been pushing for more widespread use of the system to try and overcome the difficulties of geographic distance from patients.
While the use of telehealth facilities involved some adaptions to ensure patients could still get quality of care, there has been a good takeup of the program.
The federal government has increased the funding for the program to allow it to be used at least until the end of the year.
