NEGOTIATIONS are progressing on an agreement for a South Korean company to take on the engineering and construction of sections of the $2.6 billion Leigh Creek Energy Project.
Leigh Creek Energy Limited has entered into a binding Heads of Agreement with South Korean engineering and construction company DL E&C Co Ltd to negotiate terms for the proposed agreement for the feasibility study, front end engineering and design and the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
LCK managing director Phil Staveley said this HoA was a major milestone for LCK as they partnered with a leading global organisation with huge experience.
"We have chosen DL E&C from a pool of contenders as we are confident that they can deliver a first class urea production facility which will employ the latest innovative technology and that they will be a reliable partner," he said.
"Construction of the LCEP plant will create thousands of South Australian jobs during construction, commissioning and operation."
The LCEP will be the only fully integrated urea production facility in Australia, with all inputs for low carbon urea production on-site.
