Croppers from across the state gathered at Clare on Wednesday for Hart Field-Site Group's 2021 Getting the Crop In seminar.
A variety of information was presented, enabling croppers to be informed and make decisions leading into seeding.
The event's keynote speaker was Jamestown's David 'Seth' Cooper, CC Cooper & Co, who shared details of expanding his family's farming operation. Along with brother Tom, Seth oversees six properties across three states, with up to 30 employees at any one time.
Other speakers included Australian Grain Technologies chief executive officer Haydn Kuchel, who shared insights into the future of plant breeding, Glencore Agriculture's Ben Hartfield, who reviewed the 2020 grain markets and how they may affect the 2021 outlook, and Pinion Advisory's Carlyn Sherriff, who presented tips for farming businesses to attract and retain staff.
Rounding out the program was a Hart research update, prepared by Rebekah Allen, Brianna Guidera and Sarah Noack, shining a light on results from wheat and barley research conducted last year, which remains ongoing.
Other Hart events on the 2021 calendar include the Hart Winter Walk on July 10, the Spring Twilight Walk on October 19, and the field day on September 21.
