Mallee Sustainable Farming in partnership with the Mallee and Coorong Advisory Committee and Pioneer will present the Farming in the Future Forum next Tuesday, March 2, at Parilla Sporting Club.
Mallee and Coorong Advisory Committee chair Roger Wickes said attendees will hear from technical experts and farmers who will share practical information and their own stories.
MSF program manager Tanja Morgan said the annual research update would have a variety of different topics, including Henk Vrolijks and Clint Rogers on growing corn/maize for silage, grain, and end-uses.
Bayer's Tim Murphy will present on licensing stewardship agreement and genetically-modified crop accreditation.
Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board general manager Andrew Meddle will chat about the board's capabilities, while Brian Hughes will address soil acidity issues in the Mallee.
MRLB district officer Russell Norman will speak about weed control and progress so far with the roadside weed control program and the use of calicivirus for rabbit control.
In the afternoon, MSF will be running a masterclass in deep ripping, with Michael Moodie providing the latest findings from the research and University SA's Jack Desbiolles and Chris Saunders discussing the practicalities of machinery set up with an outdoor deep ripping tyne display.
