The outpouring of generosity for those affected by last month's Blackford bushfire has continued, with more than $90,000 worth of goods and services donated for a mega auction to be held on Saturday night.
The proceeds from the auction to be held at the Lucindale Country Club, as well the funds raised from the recent Adelaide Crows visit, will be divided evenly between the Lucindale and Avenue families impacted by the fire.
The 131 lots up for grabs include two lots of two EU-accredited Speckle Park heifers, weighing about 350kg each, from local producers WV James & Sons, Cooranga; a $1000 credit to buy rams at Scott and Emily Davidson's Morton stud in their 2021 sale; two lots of pregnancy testing of 100 cattle from Turner Livestock and a $5000 voucher to spend in any of rural merchandiser, CASTEC's stores.
Co-organiser Amanda Carter says they have been "blown away" by the support which also included donations of wine, accommodation, bundles of posts and even fishing trips.
"The generosity of everyone has been a bit overwhelming but we are pretty stoked with what we have achieved in just a few weeks," she said.
"Unfortunately we had to turn away a few other offers that came in after we put the catalogue together or we wouldn't have got through all the lots on the night."
Mrs Carter hoped the money raised would make a difference to those hit by the fires.
"A lot of people have lost a lot of their livelihoods and their sheep and cattle, this will be a small part to helping them, even if it is just a holiday to get away," she said.
Those who are unable to attend on the night can pre-bid on the lots they are interested in with Mrs Carter on 0439 267 590 or Greg Fisher on 0408 335 936 before 4pm on Saturday.
Elders Lucindale branch manager Ronnie Dix will be the auctioneer on the night.
