About 90 per cent of the properties affected by Monday's Blackford fire have been assessed by PIRSA for damage.

Specifically, PIRSA State Commander Mehdi Doroudi has advised that 63 of the 70 properties within the fire area who have stock registered with the Department have now been successfully contacted.

As of today (January 14), confirmed livestock losses sit at 6756 sheep and 147 cattle, with the number expected to rise further in the coming days.

"The impact assessment continues, and It will take some time for us to obtain a full picture of the agricultural impacts from the fire," Mr Doroudi said.

"Our immediate focus has been to provide urgent assistance to producers through ensuring all livestock owners with Property Identification Codesin the fire area have been successfully contacted so landowners can start to recover from the fire as quickly as possible.

"The Department has also commenced liaising with other potentially affected primary industries including wine and grape, forestry and cropping sectors, to assess if there are other potential production impacts from the Blackford fire.

"Although most affected livestock producers have now been offered assistance, we are strongly encouraging animal owners to keep an eye on their animals in coming days in case of delayed effects from the fire.

"Should any problems emerge we remind them that a 24-hour hotline number - 1800 255 556 - is available for them to seek urgent assistance or assessment of injured or burnt livestock."
