THE Deep Dene Poll Merino stud on Kangaroo Island boosted its ram sale average earlier this month, after solid support from repeat and new clients.
The Berry family sold 62 rams from 80 offered to $3500, averaging $1293 - a $193 increase on their 2019 sale.
The top price of $3500 was paid by Simon and Marissa Veitch, MacGillivray, for lot 17, which was out of the stud's 17-0472 sire.
It exhibited good confirmation and excellent wool all backed up with impressive figures starting with its Fibre Production Plus Index in the top 5 per cent of Australia.
Its Australian Sheep Breeding Value staple length was in the top 10pc, along with Merino Production Plus and Dual Purpose Plus indexes also in the top 10pc.
It was born and raised on grass, cutting 6.1 kilograms greasy fleece weight of 16.3 micron - an exceptional example of a Deep Dene proven profitable performer.
Volume buyers at the sale were Alicia Cooper, Parndana, along with Merv and Marilyn Tremaine, Parndana, who purchased 18 rams to a top of $3300.
Michael Florance purchased 14 rams to $1000, while Fiona Zippel from Naracoorte purchased four rams to $2100 to take down to the South East.
Paul Buick, Alan Florance and Kingsley Pledge also purchased four rams each on the day.
"Special thanks to the Nutrien Ag Solutions team in Kingscote for their 52-plus years of support and the professional way they conduct the stud's sale each year," Caitlin Berry said.
