Lambs to $188
COMPETITION for new-season lambs at Mount Pleasant has remained strong in the past few weeks, with lambs fetching up to $188 at Thursday's market.
Nutrien Ag Solutions Fawcett Livestock's Colin Fawcett said the lamb job had begun to recover slightly in recent weeks, with larger numbers and greater competition evident.
"Prices have steadied and we are seeing good, top-end lambs and cattle too, coming through," he said.
"We also had different processors operating at the market this week, which is a sign the demand for lambs is continuing to rise."
The $188 top price was achieved by two vendors, Glenunga Props, Moculta, for 30 crossbred lambs and NA&LJ Roesler, Eden Valley, that offered 13 lambs.
Lamb prices continued to hold throughout the sale, with 17 from CH&L Wohlfeil, Karoonda, making $168 and M Cammell, Mount Barker, offering 24 lambs at $158.
