IT WAS all smiles at Bunyara Merino and Poll Merino stud after the 36th annual on-property sale at Moculta on Thursday last week.
The excellent lineup of 70 rams achieved a top price of $4500, with 59 sold for a sale average $1800 - $264 up on last year.
Long-term clients, the Lintern family, AMP Farms Trust, Tungkillo, bought the top price Merino ram - lot 10.
This big, deep, square framed ram weighed 129 kilograms with an eye muscle depth of 40 millimetres and a fat depth of 6.5mm with wool figures of 19.2 micron, 3.0 standard deviation, 15.6 coefficient of variation and a 99.8 per cent comfort factor.
This ram is a grandson of Wanganella 1992, whcih has bred extremely well at Bunyara.
The Linterns also bought lot 2, the highest priced Poll Merino for $4400.
This outstanding ram weighed 122kg, with a 43EMD and a fat depth of 7.5mm.

Bunyara principal Ian Koch described it as a "true dual-purpose ram with exceptional width through the chest and hind quarters".
The Lintern family have been using Bunyara Rams for more than 25 years, and this year bought 10 rams in total.
Other long-term clients were also active through the sale, including Ellerina Farm Trust, Eudunda, buying seven rams to a top of $3000, BJ Egel and LR Crookes, Black Hill, buying six to $3000, Wootoona Props, Angaston, buying four to $2800, and NP&BP Saegenschnitter, Truro, buying four to $1600.
Mr Koch was very pleased with the positive comments from stud stock agents, clients and visitors.
"We had a very even team of sale rams, having excellent meat and wool qualities with 42 of the 70 rams weighing over 100kg," he said.
The sale was conducted by Elders and Nutrien Livestock, with Tony Wetherall and Gordon Wood sharing the auctioneering duties.
