At the record-breaking Qld bull sale last week where a Santa Gertrudis bull made a new national breed high of $126,000, one SA stud was also making headlines as both a buyer and seller.
Heath and Jenna Tiller, Goolagong stud, Warnertown, outlaid $65,000 for their new sire acquisition at the Santa Central multi-vendor sale in Clifton, Qld.

Their selection was 23 month-old Bullamakinka Q40, offered by Craig Hindle, Bullamakinka Stud, Toobeah, Qld.
The 959 kilogram bull had a eye muscle area of 133 square centimetres and fat scans of 15 millimetres and 12mm.
Mr Tiller said the double polled son of Bullamakinka Rimfire M022 impressed for its phenotype, performance figures and being a total outcross for their herd.
"I picked him out of the catalogue off the photos. He has a heap of breed character, softness and a nice dark cherry red colour and when I got to Qld he was structurally correct with a good pedigree," he said.
The Tillers were also guest vendors at the sale selling four two-year-old bulls to $14,000 for a $11,750 average and two PTIC heifers at $14,000 and $10,000.
A $67,500 investment in Wave Hill Larikan in 2017 paid off with their highest priced bull and heifer both progeny of Larikan.
Three of the four Goolagong prefix bulls have found new homes at Qld based seedstock operations, Waco stud, Mungallala, Annabranch stud, Wandoan and Manresaa stud, Augathella.
The heifers were both bought by Norm Black, Ayredale stud, Federal, NSW, who also outlaid $19,500 for a Goolagong heifer earlier in the year.
Goolagong's sale cattle had been in Qld since February and were prepared by Scott and Wendy Ferguson, Glenn Oaks stud, Nobby, Qld.
The Fergusons were the vendors of the $126,000, Glenn Oaks Palo, which sold to two NSW studs, Munnabah, Coolah and Glenalbyn stud, Wellington.
In the $1.215 million Santa Central sale, 33 classified led "S" bulls averaged $19,030, and 64 unled "S" bulls topped at $26,000, averaging $7719. Ten classified S females sold to $14,000 to average $8650, and a cow and calf unit sold for $15,500.
