ONE-off federal cash grants of $3000 are still available for cash-strapped farmers, farm workers and others living with drought or the impact of drought.
The Federal Government has asked the National Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society and The Salvation Army to distribute small cash grants directly into people's bank accounts to help soften the blow.
People who have received the grant have used the money for food, petrol, school expenses and other bills.
A spokesperson said while paddocks may be greening up in some areas, it can take months, or even years, for cash to start flowing back to depleted bank accounts.
And while some may think others have had it worse, and don't want to apply for assistance, anyone living with the effects of drought for years is encouraged to apply.

The application process has even been simplified to make accessing support easier, for those living in a drought-declared local government area.

The grant is available until December this year.
