PROCESSORS were out in force chasing older ewes at the Murray Bridge Feature Ewe sale on Friday last week, while a number of restockers snapped up a quality offering of younger sheep.
Elders Murray Bridge livestock agent Scott Eichler said the market was "pretty solid", and about on par with expectations.
"We didn't have the top end hogget ewes that we normally have, we sold a lot of our better hoggets back in July and August, but the 4 year-old and and 5yo ewes were probably as good a lineup as we've had," he said.
Nutrien Murray Bridge livestock agent Kevin Keller agreed there were "a few sheep missing" this year, compared to last year's yarding of 6076, but was pleased at the processor interest shown.
"It was interesting how strong the processors were on the mutton, we didn't expect that, that was great to see," he said.
