In the months of Januray and February in 1979, most of the states farmers started the year with plenty of optimism, after most enjoyed a bumper harvest at the end of 1978. The dairy, sheep and mining industries held symposiums in Adelaide, while the Beef Field Days were also in full swing. Bull sales made record prices, with some studs making national records.
