Six community-led projects in rural SA are set to benefit from the latest bout of funding from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal's Strengthening Rural Communities program.
The SRC program aims to assist rural communities across the country by providing funding for projects that support broad community needs.
The six projects, combined, will receive more than $36,000 in funding.
FRRR SA grants program manager Carlene Egan said the funding would be a big boost for regional areas which have been impacted by drought and bushfires, and now COVID-19, on top of addressing the normal challenges of rural life.
"The grants awarded this round demonstrate the diversity of needs in SA's rural communities," she said.
"Projects ranged from infrastructure and maintenance, to purchasing health equipment and running a leadership program, as well as caring for their volunteers."

A total of 89 towns across the country received grants in this fifth funding round, with the six SA community groups receiving funding for projects being:
- Youth Opportunities Association (SA): $10,000 to enhance the well-being, resilience and leadership capacity of young people at risk by delivering a personal leadership and development program.
- Blinman Progress Association: $9208 to maintain and increase the locally adapted cochineal strain for Opuntia Cactus control, through the installation of a shed to be used as a nursery.
- Wirrabara Institute: $5544 to improve the institute's long-term sustainability by purchasing and installing a commercial dishwasher.
- Mt Hope Soldiers Memorial Hall: $5500 to improve community infrastructure by upgrading the interior of the hall.
- Peterborough History Group SA: $3528 to increase community engagement and interest in local history by conducting maintenance at Parnaroo Public Hall.
- Swan Reach Golf Club: $3000 increase capacity to respond to health emergencies by purchasing an automated external defibrillator for installation in a public place.
The next round of SRC grants will open up July and will include a dedicated stream of funding for recovery projects in bushfire-affected communities. More information is available on the FRRR website.
