HAMILTON Run held its Poll Merino nucleus flock reduction sale on AuctionsPlus earlier this month, attracting more than 100 registered bidders.
Across two sales, the Jamestown-based stud offered 384 Poll Merino stud ewes and ewe lambs, averaging $645.
A pen of seven stud ewes made the $820 top price and were sold to Darren and Charlie Millard, Georgetown.
The ewes were between five and six years old and scanned-in-lamb to Hamilton Run 652, a son of Glenlea Park 036.
Poll Merino stud ewe lambs reached a $580 top price and averaged $450.
The top pen of eight lambs were sired by Willandra 001 and secured by Nutrien Ag Solutions, Tambo, Qld.
The sale's volume buyer was Valetta Station's RA&CM Barden, Cunnamulla, Qld, who bought 94 scanned-in-lamb stud ewes.
The stud also offered 425 commercial ewe lambs on May 12 in a national commercial ewe sale.
These sold to a $282 top price, with a $281 sale average.
The Freund family, Coonalpyn, were one of two top price buyers after securing 160 lambs at $282, while Nutrien Ag Solutions, Ouyen, Vic, bought 160 ewe lambs for the same price.
With an average weight of 88 kilograms across the stud ewe flock, stud principal Greg Andrews said ewes would complement most flocks.
"It was a successful sale and terrific to attract new clients. I look forward to seeing the influence of Hamilton Run genetics for the buyers," he said.
"We have sufficient stock for future breeding and ram sales but we were able to provide an opportunity for producers to purchase some highly productive ewes."
Elders southern livestock manager Laryn Gogel said the online platform provided great exposure for the stud during COVID-19 restrictions.
"It allowed diversity to promote the catalogue in a comprehensive fashion," he said.
