FORTY years ago it was all systems go in the state, with opening rains ending SA's driest summer on record.
Studs had just come back from the Sydney Royal Easter Show with ribbons galore, while preparations were being made for the Royal Adelaide Show.
The South Eastern Friesian Fair was on, as was the Naracoorte Shorthorn Show & Sale, along with many other country shows.
Lower Eyre Peninsula and Mid North Merino studs held their field days, while there was conferences, the usual markets and dairy sales.
