It was a sensational debut at the recent Jerilderie Working Dog Auction for Lucindale kelpie breeder and trialler Darren Jenke with one of his dogs, Betty, rounding up the NSW sale's second highest price.
The manager of Redbank, Lucindale, bought the black and tan kelpie from Wayne Gelven, Yanven stud, Tintinara as a pup and had been training her in the paddock and yards.

Mr Jenke said he wanted to enter a good dog in his first year as a vendor but was gobsmacked as bids soared to $19,000 for the 21-month-old.
"She is a dog with a lot of presence, a good-natured bitch but she is one of the most free backing dogs that I've come across," he said.
Betty's new owners are from Smithton, Tas.
Mr Jenke also sold another dog for $4600.
Continuing the SA success was Travis Ware, Nepowie Station, Woolumbool, who sold a trained dog Woodja Eve for $11,275. Its mother was the 2018 Australian yard dog champion.
Overall 54 of 59 dogs sold to a $21,000 high and averaged $7080- up $1000 on 2019.
