Maintaining a focus on utilising proven genetics within its breeding program has helped Lucindale-based stud Yerwal Estate Simmentals achieve a $6000 top price four times at its annual on-property sale last week.
The stud sold 13 out of 25 bulls offered, for a $4769 sale average.
Stud principal Regan Burow said the top price bulls "exuded" natural thickness and softness.
"All of the top lots were well-balanced sires. We have focused on using industry leading genetics to produce this type," he said.
The first lot to reach the $6000 top price was Yerwal Estate Primetime that was sired by SVS Captain Morgan.
Bought by Lachlan McKenzie, Ballarat, Vic, the July 2018-drop black Simmental weighed 830 kilograms with seven millimetres of rump fat, 7mm rib fat and an eye muscle area of 114 squarecentimetres.
Mr McKenzie also secured another $6000 bull.
Simon and Rachel Withers, Lochaber, secured Yerwal Estate Pedro for $6000 after competitive bidding continued to push up prices.
Sired by Woonallee Los Angeles, it weighed 800-kg with 7mm for rib and rump and a 124sq cm EMA.
The sale was conducted by Nutrien Ag Solutions Naracoorte.
