After a good year or a bad, growers cannot afford to throw money away on needless or excess inputs.

Precision Agriculture is helping growers learn exactly what their soil needs to get the best yields out of it.

Using grid soil mapping, Precision Agriculture provide an accurate and reliable evidence base for VR management of surface soil properties.

Precision Agriculture's area manager - southern region, Mark Bastian said they pride themselves on their accuracy.

"Precision Agriculture specialise in soil health and soil health testing," he said.

"We provide a few different forms of soil health testing with the majority being grid map soil sampling.

"Grid map soil sampling is where we go through and lay out a paddock in grids, determining what nutrients are needed in each grid for the best soil health.

"This helps maximise yields as well as saving money by only using the inputs which are required, at the amount required.

"For example, most of our broadacre customers would lay out their paddocks in two hectare grids and we would take eight samples from that grid.

"We would then combine those eight samples and GPS locate them to that two hectares and repeat that through the paddock.

"So for a 100 hectare paddock, we would have 50 grids and take 400 soil samples.

"Those samples are sent down to Apal Agriculture Lab in Adelaide.

"Once we get the data back from them, we supply nutrition maps and rate maps which we give to the growers and they can spread with confidence.

"Within 21 days of sampling, the grower can be spreading fertiliser knowing they are using the right inputs at the right amount.

"We provide an end-to-end solution.

"A lot of companies will just provide the raw data, whereas we provide a final, completed plug into the spreader or seeder solution.

"We want to work with agronomists to provide growers the best plans to maximise their soil health."
