A truck convoy from Western Australia loaded with hay for drought and fire-hit farmers in New South Wales passed through Ceduna last Monday.
The 11-truck convoy, dubbed the Harvey Hay Run, left WA on last week, prompted by the horrific images coming out of the eastern states.
The hay run was organised in just two weeks, with nearly 1000 bales of hay collected, loaded, and on the road heading to Cooma, NSW, for a 10-day return journey.
Belinda Hall, one of the organisers of the hay run, said they were happy to help those in need.
She said the plan to donate hay started with a trailer then continued to expand, with members of the convoy including professional drivers who have given up their time, and owner-driven local farm trucks.
"We are proud, not just of all those who have supported us to get it all together, but the drivers too - it is the best team you could have," she said.
"My husband and I were watching the fires and thought we had to do something to help.
"We are taking the hay to the South Coast Rural Relief, who are dispersing feed, in an area where fire has hit on top of a drought."
Convoy driver Trent Cole said it was an important trip to be part of.
"I like helping others, and I wanted to help my fellow Aussies," he said.
"We are all pretty proud to be part of this."
Organiser Tom Rose said the group had received a call from WA federal politician Nola Marino, who said Prime Minister Scott Morrison thanked them for what they were doing.
Ms Hall said paying for fuel was her biggest concern, with a cost of about $10,000 each time they fill up, but she thanked people and local communities for their generous contributions to the journey.
The hay run is also carrying 2000 giant postcards from WA to NSW signed by people who have contributed and the lead truck is carrying a banner created by an artist friend of the Hall family.
Ms Hall said people could contribute to the Harvey Hay Run on their GoFundMe page, or donations can be made via any Westpac bank, quoting BSB 036122 and account 680395 with Harvey Hay Run as the account name.
