JAMESTOWN
Yarding: 15,000
Young ewes to $248
5.5yo ewes to $170
Wethers to $163
PRICES for lambs at Jamestown's last sale of the year on Thursday last week held firm when compared with past sales but breeding ewe demand had eased by about $25 a head.
Landmark Jamestown livestock agent Shannon Jaeschke said the "lamb job" had remained very strong for the past few months.
"Ewe prices came back because most local graziers have already put rams out with ewes," he said.
"Prices for ewes were still strong but some lacked condition which also pulled prices back."
Mr Jaeschke said local buyers were the most active at the sale, but interstate buyers and processors were also "very strong".
"Older breeding sheep were once again bought by processors because the mutton job is strong, but a lack of demand from restockers had also attributed," he said.
