MOUNT Torrens dairyfarmer Rick Gladigau has been elected to the Australian Dairy Farmers board as business director, at yesterday's annual general meeting.
His election came alongside returning independent director Victoria Taylor.
Mr Gladigau has been a member of the SA Dairyfarmers' Board for the past 12 years, as well various other dairy boards and committees across the years.
He said in his time in the dairy industry there have been many changes.
"My Dad always said to me, 'there's no point in whinging about things if you're not willing to be involved and make a difference' and that's why I nominated for this position," he said.
He said it was important to be part of the national policy leader in the dairy industry.
"Dairy has certainly gone through a tough time, but I feel it is coming out the other side," he said.
"Strength in policy and direction is what we need as a business and we have one go with the Australian Dairy Plan, I see that as the base to grow the industry."
SADA issued a response, thanking dairyfarmers from across SA and Australia who "recognised Rick's strengths and voted for him rather than candidates from more populous states".
"The goals of ADF matches that of SADA's goals putting Rick in the best position to drive both our state and the nation forward," the release said.
