YOUNG ewes reached $264 and 4.5-year-olds topped at $218 in another strong market at Jamestown on Thursday.
Prices were strong across the board for the 23,000-head yarding, with ewe lambs reaching $234 and a line of first-cross ewe lambs making a whopping $312.
Elders Jamestown agent Scott Fleetwood said a widespread buying crowd, including bidders from the South East, Western Vic and NSW, drove competition.
"It was an extremely strong sale right the way through from the wether lambs to the older ewes," he said.
"The sale far outweighed expectations."

Landmark Jamestown agent Shannon Jaeschke also described the sale as very strong.
"The young Merino ewe job was extremely strong, topping at $264 and a lot making between $220 and $250," he said.
"Wether lambs were firm on the last market. We had more weight in the top end of our Merino lambs and crossbred lambs but it was generally firm on dollar value."
"There wasn't a heap of lighter lambs available for competition, but they met strong demand also."
"The breeding ewe job was firm also. We didn't have as many older breeding ewes but that was still strong throughout."
The best lines of 2014 and 2015-drop ewes made in excess of $200.
The top price paid for 4.5-year-olds was $218 for 82 August-shorn, Nyowee-blds from Griffiths Ag, while a quality run of 302 May/June 2015-drop, September-shorn, Barton Hill-blds from SA&YJ Scholz, Wudinna, sold for $210.
Topping the 10,000-head wether lamb section was Garawang P/L, Georgetown, with 200 April/May-drop, October-shorn, Baderloo-bloods making $158.

Also selling well were 233 April/May-drop, October-shorn, Moorundie-blds, averaging 50.7 kilograms, from Fairvale Props, Jamestown, which made $157.
About 2000 crossbred lambs were offered with a run of 465 June/July-drop, Gumview Willochra-bld, White Suffolk/Merino crossbred lambs, av 44.1kg, from Sawers Farms - Wilkitana Station, via Port Augusta, selling for $154.
DE&LNE Hansen, Georgetown, sold 539 June/July-drop, October-shorn, Maroola/Gum Hill-bld, White Suffolk/Merinos, av 41.5kg, for $150.
Peter Pratt, Wirrilla Holdings, Georgetown, sold his complete drop of 406 April/May-drop, September-shorn, Moorundie-bld ewe lambs, averaging 50.5kg, for $234.
The same vendor also sold 75 April/May-drop, October-shorn, Border Leicester/Merino first cross (Glencorrie/Moorundie-bld) ewe lambs, av 55.5kg, for a whopping $312.
Headlining the selection of young ewes were Wattle Park Props, Melrose, who sold 98 April/May 2018-drop, September-shorn, Moorundie Park-blds for $264.
Wilton Land Trust, Jamestown, sold 93 May/June 2018-drop, October-shorn, Baderloo-blds for $259.
The next Jamestown market will be held on December 12, with a reduced yarding of about 10,000 forecasted.
