DAIRYFARMERS, processors and government representatives were all in the same room in Adelaide yesterday to devise a path forward for the state's dairy industry.
The South Australian Dairy Summit was hosted by SA Dairyfarmers' Association and follows on from the SA Dairy Industry Action Plan, launched in April, which aims to create a path for the industry for the next five years.
During the four-hour summit, representatives from across the dairy sector discussed the strengths of the SA dairy industry as well as the potential barriers to growth in the future.
They then had the chance to devise some priorities and strategies for removing some of these barriers.
The results from the day will be compiled together, with SADA employing a full-time staff member, with funds from the Dairy Industry Fund and PIRSA, whose responsibility it will be to put the plan into action.
Feedback from the attendees was positive and energised but many say the next step is important for the plan to have results.
