THERE were great prices paid at the Deep Dene Poll Merino ram sale on Kangaroo Island.
Caitlin Berry, with parents Lloyd and Christine, held their 51st annual ram sale at Macgillivray on Friday, achieving their best prices yet.
Strong bidding from loyal clients and some new faces resulted in 70 Poll Merino rams sold from the 75 presented, averaging $1100.
This year's top price of $3500 was paid for lot 36 by David Rowsell, Macgillivray, who hoped the ram would help increase his wool cut.
The son of Deep Dene's 160036 - a Centre Plus grandson - had a 4.4kg clean fleece weight, with an Australian Sheep Breeding Value of +35.5 CFW - a top 1 per cent performer for CFW in Australia.
Volume buyers were Alicia Cooper, along with parents Merv and Marilyn Tremaine of Parndana, buying 15 rams to $3100.
Nathan Trethewey purchased 10 to $800; Michael Florance eight rams to $1050 and Neville and Carla Sugars purchased six to $2900.
"Special thanks to the Landmark Harcourts team in Kingscote for their 51-plus years of support and the professional way they conduct the studs sale each year," Christine Berry said.
