FARMERS came from across the Mallee, Riverland and Upper South East for a chance to gain insight into their neighbour's operations during the judging of the Browns Well Crop Competition.
There was about 60 people during the day, which took in five farms, as well as the chance to look at some local trials.
There was a look at the latest research into managing and preventing seeps, as well as the barley national variety trials.
During lunch, at Paruna, growers also got to taste some of the variety of beers, made from barley, wheat, lentils and oats, from the Lobethal Bierhaus.

The day's winner was Lachie Singh, Alawoona, with 84.57 points, narrowly beating out Clinton Scholz, Taplan, on 84.43 points, with Bernie Lehmann, Paruna, in third of 82.6.
Mr Scholz was also commended for a crop with an estimated 1.24 tonne a hectare yield on only 86 millimetres of rain during the growing season.
