IT was a stunning spring day for the Keith & Tintinara District Show on the weekend, with many hundreds of people getting into the show spirit.
The day's main attractions included Aussie FMX, performing motorbike stunts, lawn mower races, a wine tasting master class and speed shears competition.
The new dog jump competition was a big crowd puller with the winner, kelpie Ralph, owned by Rachael Poolman, Tintinara, going up and over a 2.57 metre high board- not far off the national record of 3m.
The 30 entries in the beef cattle section could have rivalled a Royal Show line-up.
Judge Jake Phillips, Phillips Cattle Co, Naracoorte, said it was a toss up for supreme exhibit but went with his grand champion bull, Red Angus, Woodvale Pegasus, exhibited by the Llewellyn family. Willalooka.
"He has that sire appeal and presence that is hard to put a value on but which will help sell his progeny," he said.
Pegasus was bought as a six-month-old calf at the 2018 Royal Adelaide Show and was the supreme Red Angus exhibit at this year's Royal.
Also in contention was the grand champion female, Nampara Princess P86, exhibited by the Hann family, Lucindale.
Princess was the junior champion female in the highly contested Angus feature show at Adelaide.
