THE McArdle family at Parndana were "over the moon" following their second annual Polwarth ram sale on Tuesday, with a near clearance and a $238 increase in average.
David and Lynne McArdle, and their children Jared and Talisa, offered 51 rams, selling 49 to $2500 and averaging $1398.
Last year's sale sold to $2750, averaging $1160.
First-time clients CA&JI Guthrie & Sons travelled all the way from Busselton, WA, to buy the $2500 top price ram at lot 16.
The son of Taljar Ray - the 2017 Royal Adelaide Show longwool interbreed champion - weighed 98 kilograms at 15 months old, measuring 20 micron wool with 4.5 standard deviation, 22 coefficient of variation and 98.6 per cent comfort factor.
The Guthries bought a second ram at lot 13 for $2000.
It weighed 98kg, with 18.2M wool measuring 3.6SD, 19.8CV and 99.4CF.

Buying in volume were fellow first-time buyers Bates Holdings, KI, with five rams, including one at lot 18 at the sale's second highest price of $2300.
It weighed 92kg, with 20.6M wool measuring 3.2SD, 15.5CV and 99.4CF.
Volume buyers included Lake Ada Pastoral, KI, with six rams; first time buyer Yalkuri, Meningie, with five; and Quentin and Brad Willson, Penneshaw, bought six between them.
Alongside local buyers, others came from the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula.
Lynne McArdle said the sale was a "fantastic way to finish the season in the breeds centenary".
"We would like to thank all new and existing clients and agents involved for their support," she said.
Elders and Landmark conducted the sale.
